Funding & Support
There are many funding options available to help families access speech and language therapy. These funding options often include eligibility criteria including assessments. We encourage you to contact us for assistance accessing funding.

Autism Funding
The Autism Funding Unit provides funding for children with autism to access developmental services including speech, language and occupational therapy. Children under the age of six are eligible to receive up to $22,000 per year. While children over the age of six are eligible to receive up to $6,000 per year. A formal autism assessment is required to be eligible for funding.

Extended Health Benefit Plans
Many workplaces provide health benefit plans that provide coverage for rehabilitation services including speech, language and swallowing therapy. Examples of extended health benefit providers are Pacific Blue Cross and Great West Life.

Affordable Child Care Benefit
This subsidy provided by the Ministry of Education and Childcare aims to help make child care more affordable for families with children with special needs.

Support Our Troops
Military families with special needs dependents can receive funding to cover services associated with things like speech therapy, assistive devices, respite care, and medical travel

Self Design School
Self Design's special education program provides supports to learners between the ages of 5 and 19. Supports include providing small grants for learners to access required services including speech and language therapy.

ICBC Insurance
For those involved in automobile accidents, ICBC provides coverage to access rehabilitation services including speech, language and swallowing therapy.

Variety - The Children's Charity
Variety provides financial assistance to families with children with special needs so they can access: health services including speech therapy, equipment and recreational programs.

Worksafe BC
Worksafe BC provides compensation for employees who have suffered a work-related injury or disease to access rehabilitation services including speech, language and swallowing therapy.

Leisure Assistance Pass
The Leisure Assistant Pass is for people with disabilities, of all ages, who require the assistance of a support person when engaging in leisure activities. Upon presentation of the pass at a participating venue, one support person will be provided free or reduced admission to aid in facilitating participation in leisure activities.

BC Teachers’ Federation
The Federation's Health and Wellness program provides BC teachers with access to rehabilitation services including speech, language and swallowing therapy.

CKNW Kids Fund
The CKNW Kids Fund provides grants to families with financial challenges so they are able to access: health services including speech therapy, special equipment, bursaries and summer camp sponsorships.

Bear Essentials Funding Program
The Bear Essentials Program helps to cover expenses for Vancouver Island kids who have medical conditions, health challenges or disabilities. Funding available through this program can be used to access speech and language therapy.

Jordan's Principle Funding
This program is about insuring that First Nations children receive the services they need when they need them. These services include speech and language services.

Disability Tax Credit
The disability tax credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit used to reduce the income tax you pay. It's available for people with a severe and prolonged physical or mental impairment. Apply for the Disability Tax Credit using form T2201.

Crime Victim Assistance Program
The program provides funding and/or supports to victims of crime and their families. Rehabilitation services provided can include speech and language therapy.

Post-Adoption Assistance
Funding is provided for children with special needs who have been adopted through the Ministry of children and Family Development. This assistance includes funding for speech therapy.

Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island
The program supports Island kids who have medical conditions, health challenges, or disabilities. This includes providing funding for speech and language therapy.

Métis Family Connections Program
The Miyoopimatishihk (Wellbeing) Program is available to children from birth to eight, who are enrolled in the Métis Family Connections Program. Through the Miyoopimatishihk (Wellbeing) Program, families can apply for financial support to assist with the cost of a wide range of services, programs and products, including but not limited to respite care, speech therapy, assessments, specialized equipment, and mental health
